How to Play Blackjack - Online Blackjack

Before a gambler can properly play the blackjack game, they must be aware of the basics of the game. Blackjack is normally played with around one to eight decks of playing cards. The initial point the player should notice once they start playing the blackjack game is that prior to each new game starting, the dealer will spread the new playing cards over the table, firstly face down in order for the backs of the cards to be inspected for any markings, and secondly face up, allowing both the card dealer and the gamblers to conclude that there are no extra cards or any missing cards within the decks that are used. The blackjack rules state that a basic 52-card poker-sized card deck must be used, although the four suits do not actually have any significance in the game. It is just the numerical value of the card which is important. Number 2s through to number 9s are simply counted at their face value, and all the number 10s and the face cards are to be valued at 10. The ace card is unique, and will be counted as either a 1 or an 11. The player decides.

After the cards have been looked at, the card dealer will thoroughly shuffle the deck/decks of cards. After they have finished shuffling, the player is handed a coloured cut card, which will be inserted at any place within the card stack which is held on the game table by the card dealer. Some players actually have a preference not to cut the cards. When this occurs the chance to cut the cards is given to another player. If no players want to cut the card deck, the dealer will have to cut it himself. Once the cut has been made, the dealer will place the coloured card near the back of the card deck so that he can see when it needs to be reshuffled. The card dealer will then hold all of the cards and deal when the single deck of cards is being used. When there are a number of decks being used, a shoe or a dealing box will be used. In both of these cases, the first card which is named a burn card will not be used, but will be put at the end of the single card deck or put in a discard rack. This burn card will not normally be shown, although the dealer could expose the card if they are asked to.

When it is time to play Blackjack, the game is started with the player that is on the dealers left (called first base). The card dealer will deal each player as well as himself one card. Each player is then dealt another card, keeping the dealer’s card dealt face down. All of the players’ cards are normally dealt face down with the single-deck card game and will be face up with the multi-deck card games; despite of whether or not the cards are exposed the game play will remain the same. Although a lot of gamblers prefer the blackjack games that are played using a single deck, the increasing trend is actually for the multi-deck game. As well as the face up game being a lot faster, and a lot more profitable towards the casino, the chance of a player being able to cheat is also eliminated because the players cannot touch their cards.

Once all players at the table have received their two first cards, beginning at first base, every player is asked to draw other additional cards, which will always be given as one at a time, face up. If the player exceeds the total of 21 when another card is drawn, they will lose (or go bust). The bet will then be collected, and the cards will be removed from the gambler and put with the other discards. After every player has played their turn, the dealer will complete their hand using the fixed blackjack rules that will be found printed on the game tables cover. These rules will normally comprise of hitting/taking a card on every 16, and standing on every 17. An important point to remember when a player learns the basics of the blackjack game is that their exposed hand will not change the dealer’s play. The decisions of the dealer will be mechanical. If they do not exceed 21, they can collect from each player who has a hand that totals less than theirs.
